Dot Earth Blog: From Rio to Doha, 'They Just Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk'

The sustained deadlock in efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions through treaty negotiations ? including the closing round in Doha, Qatar ? may be aggravating, but at least the situation brings to mind some great music.

One apt tune, of course, is ?Same as It Ever Was? by the Talking Heads. Another, which I?ve alluded to twice already ? during the Bali round of negotiations and Senate floor debate on a climate bill, is ?Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk,? by one of my all-time favorite musicians, T Bone Burnett (best known as a producer).

Listen above as you sift for treaty ?news? using the #COP18 tag on Twitter and you?ll see why the music fits.

Click here for my post, at the end of the 2009 round of talks in Copenhagen, stepping back to reflect on two decades of climate negotiations.
