The White House Pinterest page isn't exactly very active just yet. You'll have to wait until Dec. 17 to see new pinboards on it.

President Barack Obama and his administration are rather keen on social media, so it's not a surprise that the White House got its own official Pinterest account on Saturday. You'd think POTUS would get pinterest.com/whitehouse though, but that's not where you'll find it.
White House's latest social media account is at?pinterest.com/whitehouse44. Yes, that's right. The White House didn't get the?pinterest.com/whitehouse?URL, and we've reached out to Pinterest to find out why. The URL does make some sense, though: "44" refers to Obama being the 44th U.S. president.?
"On Pinterest,?the White House will share pins and boards that range from inspiring images and quotes to infographics that help explain key issues to details about the life inside the White House," wrote?Kori Schulman, director of online engagement for the Obama administration's Office of Digital Strategy,?in a blog post.?(If you're almost positive you've already seen the Obamas pinning up a storm, it's because they already have a Pinterest account linked to the presidential campaign.)?
Now, while you can start following the White House Pinterest account now, its first pinboards won't appear until Dec. 17, according to Schulman.?This will be the day that some of the account's earliest followers will be invited for a "Holiday Social" at the White House. (Curiously enough, there technically is already a pinboard on the account, announcing this event. We'll assume that Schulman means that the White House won't truly become active on the virtual cork-board until after the Holiday Social.)?
Nielsen's recent social media report said Pinterest has grown by?1,047 percent in the last year. Maybe that's why pinterest.com/whitehouse wasn't available. Right now, though, it doesn't look like anyone is using it. Curiouser and curiouser.?
